TwoCan App

TwoCan was born from one of our many internal development project workshops. These are projects that we initiate to develop new skills, explore new and experimental tech and hopefully solve a few issues we come across in day to day life.

Our goal was to expand on our app building knowledge and develop a cross platform app that we could publish to both iOS and Android app stores simultaneously whilst only maintaining one code base.

Out of the workshop sessions came the common frustration of not having a shopping list that we could share between partners and housemates when stopping at the shop on the way home for the evening essentials. We then abstracted the idea out further to be 'a collaborative list sharing app' where you could create lists for any occasion, event or project, invite friends or colleagues and tick off items as a team.

We opted to use React Native and Expo in order to further expand our knowledge and understanding of both and optimise the internal production pipeline needed to get from concept to app store. Key areas of focus were around authentication, account management, performance optimisation, screen navigation and transitions, haptic feedback, push notifications and deployment and release on the app stores.
